So, I was craving a little Easter-themed DIY… but wasn’t down with spending a whole lot to make it happen. And as luck would have it, I stumbled across THIS adorable bunny blog post from Sarah over at The Project Pile and it got my creative juices flowing!
I fell in loooooove with the idea of getting a few of these dollar store bunnies, and putting my own spray-paint spin on them!
Given that I’m loving all things gold these days, I obviously wanted to make myself a gold bunny or three.
So, here’s what I started with:
They’re not horrible, but they’re exactly what you’d expect for $2 at the dollar store. AKA: The perfect starting point.
I used Rustoleum Metallic spray paint in satin bronze to paint the bun-buns. I find it gives a slightly more muted gold tone, which I like, and doesn’t actually feel too ‘bronzy’. It covered in one coat, and was a ten minute project – exactly the amount of time I can allocate to anything these days!
The finished product is pretty darn cute, and perfect for the gold/blue/green colour scheme I’m digging this spring!
The best news? If I change my mind next year and want to try a different colour? It’s an easy and inexpensive change to make!
